The 1,000 dirhams (US$272.26; €234.07) banknote, P-42 and B-253 is a remarkable piece of currency that showcases the cultural and technological achievements of the United Arab Emirates. Its brown color and polymer (Safeguard) material make it durable and resistant to wear and tear.

The front of the note features Arabic text, the Emirates logo, and an image of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE. In the background, you can see the NASA space shuttle on a launch pad, symbolizing the country’s aspiration to explore space and push the boundaries of science and technology. A rosette serves as a registration device, ensuring the note’s authenticity.

The back of the note displays English text, a rosette, and an image of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi, one of the country’s most significant technological achievements. A kinegram foil stripe with an astronaut adds to the note’s security features and authenticity.

The note was printed by Oumolat Security Printing, and its dimensions are unknown. As a polymer note, it is more resistant to counterfeiting and more durable than traditional paper notes. This particular note was issued on December 2, 2022, with the date of 1443/2022. No signature is present on the note.
