On the obverse side of the banknote, the distinguished figure of Dr. Mariano Gálvez is featured alongside the magnificent Real Palacio de la Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción, a symbol of historical significance.

Turning the banknote offers a captivating tableau: the portrayal of the signing of the Central American Independence Act, a pivotal moment in the nation’s history. Additionally, the Quetzal bird graces this side, representing the nation’s natural beauty and heritage.

A security thread, ingeniously windowed and demetalized with characters “20BG,” adds an extra layer of security, deterring counterfeit attempts. Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), a reputable printing company from Germany, is entrusted with producing this banknote, guaranteeing both quality and authenticity. The watermark stands as a blend of artistry and security, featuring a high-quality tridimensional image of Dr. Mariano Gálvez, adding to the banknote’s uniqueness and authenticity.

The date “27 DE MAYO DE 2020” marks a significant moment in time, commemorating an event of great importance. This banknote’s prefix is “E,” accompanied by the suffix “A.” Its introduction into circulation commenced on September 15th, 2021, marking a significant addition to the nation’s currency landscape.

The signatures of Oscar Roberto Monterroso Sazo and Sergio Francisco Recinos Rivera lend an air of authority and credibility, underlining the banknote’s status as a trusted instrument of monetary exchange.
