The 10,000 Kip (US$1.10 and €0.94) banknote, P-41B and B-521 is predominantly blue in color and measures 152 x 68 mm.

The front of the note features the portrait of Kaysone Phomvihane, a prominent Lao revolutionary and politician, along with an image of the Pha That Luang pagoda in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.

On the back of the note, there is a picture of the Lao-Nippon bridge over the Mekong River, which connects Laos to Thailand. The bridge is an important symbol of the economic and political ties between Laos and Japan.

The note includes a holographic security thread with demetalized Lao denomination for added security. The watermark on the note features the image of Kaysone Phomvihane and the electrotype 10000.

The note was introduced in 2020 with the prefix “AA”.

The 20,000 Kip (US$2.19 and €1.88) banknote, P-41C and B-522 is predominantly brown in color and measures 152 x 68 mm.

The front of the note features the portrait of Kaysone Phomvihane, along with an image of the Xienthong temple on the Mekong River in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Laos.

On the back of the note, there is a picture of the Theun-Hinboune hydroelectric complex, which is an important source of electricity for Laos. The complex includes two dams and a power plant, and it is located in the Khammouane Province.

The note includes a solid demetalized 20000 and Lao text as the security thread, for added security. The watermark on the note features the image of Kaysone Phomvihane and the electrotype 20000.

The note was introduced in 2020 with the prefix “AA”.
